
The idea is simple: opponents are there to help make you better. Seen from this POV, soccer - and life really - becomes much more enjoyable. IMO, it's a way for anyone to "gamify" their soccer journey. Which is what most pros do whether consciously or not.
So far I've conducted my own literature reviews to stay on top of the latest research about wellness. Whether it involves positive psychology, biomechanics, spirituality through meditation techniques, or beyond, I love deep diving into all the different areas encompassed by athletic wellness.
This is how I see it all playing out: if or when we can get all or most youth soccer players educated about the fundamentals of soccer wellness, the U.S. soccer system will have more talent to choose from. More talent we can then get to start using the wellness "edge" tools, the more chance the U.S. becomes a world-class soccer GOATs factory. The more chance the MLS becomes the new EPL for the world at large! Big data helps make the business case and digital media help spread the movement to affect society, economics, and culture.
As brand ambassador for the Good Game clothing brand, I produce tiktok content summarizing my soccer know-how. Targetting soccer players in the U13-U19 age groups, the content is varied and meant to help readers have a more enjoyable and less injury-prone soccer journey.
